One of the largest and most exciting events on the annual U SPORTS calendar returns for an 11th year as the University of Calgary Dinos and Mount Royal University Cougars take to the ice at the Scotiabank Saddledome for the Crowchild Classic on Friday, Jan. 31.
The Crowchild Classic at the Scotiabank Saddledome is the yearly celebration of university sport in Calgary. It is the largest gathering of students in the city each year and will once again feature a hockey doubleheader, with the women’s game set for 4:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the 11th Annual Crowchild Classic will go on sale Tuesday, Jan. 8, with net proceeds from the $5 admission fee returning to the two campuses for investment into mental health initiatives. The event is open to the public.

The Crowchild Classic is an important event on the UCalgary calendar each year, and as an institutional event the
Non-Academic Misconduct Policy will be in effect.
Please Note: There is a strict
no re-entry and
no backpacks policy at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Parking is available on a limited event-by-event basis in the Scotiabank Saddledome lots on the north side of the Saddledome located off 14th Avenue and 5th Street S.E. There is also additional vehicle parking on Stampede Park, immediately adjacent to the Scotiabank Saddledome or at a number of private lots in the area (not affiliated with the Scotiabank Saddledome or the Calgary Flames).

About the Crowchild Classic
The Crowchild Classic is an annual competition between the University of Calgary Dinos and the Mount Royal University Cougars in Canada West regular season games across the sports of basketball, hockey, soccer, and volleyball. The marquee event, a hockey doubleheader, takes place each year at the Scotiabank Saddledome thanks to the generous support of the Calgary Flames Foundation. The school that wins the most games in the series is awarded 'The Medal' – a 68-kilogram cast iron City of Calgary manhole cover. The 2016 Saddledome doubleheader holds the attendance record for a game between two U SPORTS opponents, with 12,859 fans in attendance.
