WINDSOR, Ont. – The Calgary Dinos wrapped up the 2010 CIS Track and Field Championships Saturday at the St. Denis Centre in Windsor, Ont., staying strong to the end with a pair of solid sixth-place finishes in both the men's and women's standings.

Saturday's final day of competition was highlighted by a silver medal by #Mike Saizew# in the men's 600 metres, while the women's 4x400-metre relay squad of #
Kelsey Lotwin#, #Michelle Siefert#, #
Amonn Nelson#, and #
Danielle Kendall# took gold in the second-to-last event of the day.
The women's relay posted a stellar time of 3:46.30, breaking a 27-year-old facility record at the St. Denis Centre. Earlier in the day, the women's 4x200 relay squad took home the silver medal.
Calgary sprinter #
Sam Effah# earned yet another accolade Saturday, as he was named the Male Athlete of the Meet. Effah, who earned his third straight CIS track athlete of the year award earlier in the week, took gold in both the 60- and 300-metre events, setting a CIS record in the 60 with his preliminary time of 6.57 seconds. That time, which would have won him a bronze medal at this weekend's IAAF World Indoor Championships, was a key factor in his receiving the male athlete of the meet award for the second time in three seasons.
Effah also added to his medal haul Saturday, running the leadoff leg of the Dinos' silver medal-winning 4x400-metre relay joined by teammates #
Scott Nicol#, #
Evan Kimick#, and Saizew.
In the men's 600, Saizew finished just 11 hundredths off the top of the podium with his time of 3:18.53.
The Windsor Lancers took the overall women's title with 114 points, well ahead of second-place Toronto, while the Guelph Gryphons men edged out the host Lancers on the men's side with 86 points to Windsor's 85 to win the national banner.
The Dinos women finished sixth with 42.5 team points, while the men finished with 42 points – also in sixth place overall.
“This really turned out to be a great championship for us,” said Dinos head coach #Doug Lamont#. “Both the men and women exceeded expectations. Sam and Amonn succeeded as we expected they would, but the rest of the team really stepped up and did everything that could be asked of them.”
